Most of us who know Michael know that he is a man that enjoys life. He is a redneck, gun slinging, truck driving, cowboy and there's never a hunting trip that he can refuse. He is well known for his loving and thoughtful nature. He NEVER says no to a person in need and when he meets you, you know that when he calls you "friend" or "family", he means it wholeheartedly. He is the guy that lights up a room, sometimes by completely embaressing everyone but it is his free spirited, loving nature that makes you just love him. If you need help, he is there. Whether you need to move some boxes, lay some concrete, raise a barn, round up some hogs; whatever it is, we have all come to know that we can count on him.
He is also an affectionate husband and father. He absolutely adores his family and as such, he spends everyday telling his wife how beautiful she is and making silly pet names for his children. He loves to keep things light but he loves deeply.
The last couple of weeks have been absolutely life changing. The once carefree Michael, is now a worried and concerned Michael and his mortality has suddenly come to the front of his thoughts and prayers. In true Michael form, he is not concerned for himself, but for his family. The family that he has both created because of his loving disposition as a friend and companion, and those he cherishes most in his life.
On October 14th Michael fell through a ceiling at work. Of course, this turned out to be a miracle in and of itself because shortly thereafter medical staff discovered a tumor. Not just any tumor, but the one thing that no one wants to hear. The big "C" word. It is cancer. While this is probably the single most devistating event in Michael's life, he will not be defeated by this. If anyone can kick the crap outta cancer, it IS Michael. Michael has beat so many odds but his journey is really just beginning. On October 24th, after a very long, emotional, and grueling week, he had brain surgery.
Today, marks the beginning of a new journey. A journey to recovery and a journey that will bring new life to him and those that love him.
Michael has been an inspiration to so many and now he needs your help. His family needs your help. He would never ask you because he is the guy that always gives to others but never expects in return. If you haven't met him or his family, consider this. He is a young, healthy 44 year old man, with family, friends, and so many loved ones but also, many obstacles to come. He needs all of our support and all of our help, even if it is small, it will be appreciated.
This GoFundMe is set up because the family is incurring tremendous medical expenses, unexpectedly. Michael's insurance will cover up to 80% of his expenses and he has been inpatient for overr 10 days. His journey to defeat cancer has just begun and his treatments will be costly and yet, necessary. They are also a two income household. With the help of friends and family, they willbe listing their home for sale out of necessity. Michael will not be able to work while he is undergoing Chemotherapy and radiation.
We are asking for your help! Please help Michael and his family in anyway that you can. If you can donate $1, please don't feel like it won't help because it WILL. Please don't pass over this page and thing it doesn't affect you. Last week, it didn't effect him either. Please make a donation, big or small.
