For the past 18 years, Ms. Sylvia Yorke has been a wellness associate and manager at Sevananda Natural Foods Market. More than likely, if you have ever been to Sevananda, then you know Ms. Sylvia! One of 13 children, born and raised in New York, she definitely adds the "Up North" flair to the store. She's vibrant, she's vocal, she's saucy - but more than anything, she is deeply caring and helpful.

If you know her, then you know she has a soft spot for animals, cats in particular. She has rescued and cared for many cats, paid for them to be spayed and neutered, and partnered with Little 5 Point's Junkman's Daughter to find happy homes for them, minus the three that she opened her own home to.

Her compassion is not limited to animals. With her tough-love advice and her wealth of knowledge of herbs and supplements, she has assisted countless customers on their healing journeys and now, she is facing one of her own. Two of her sisters have already battled cancer, one losing both breasts, the other just one. Now, Ms. Sylvia has recently been diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma cancer.
