Relocation Away From Abusive Ex

Hi, my name is Sarah. I have two young boys, Aiden is now 11, and Tate is now 6. This last April was one of the scariest moments of our lives. After a 4 hour long fight, my soon to be ex-husband, pulled out a gun, and loaded it at the foot of the bed where my (then) 10 year old son, and I were laying. I was convinced we were going to die that night. After about 10 minutes where he had me trapped in our basement hallway, with the loaded gun still in his hand, with his finger on the trigger, he finally gave up the gun and left. My then 10 year old witnessed the incident, and was convinced that he was going to watch me die.  I wish this was the first incident of abuse, but unfortunately, this goes back 13 years. April was just the final straw. We have no family within 1,000 miles, but I knew I had to get us out, and away. Needless to say, I took the boys and moved into a battered womans shelter. From April to August, we bounced around from shelter to shelter in the Denver area, never really able to stay in one place long. It felt like just as we were getting used to a place, our time was up, and we would have to move along.  From August until now, we've bounced from couch to couch, and finally were able to rent two rooms in a private house for $615 a month. Paying so much for two rooms, doesnt really give me a huge opportunity to save.  My ex was finally convicted of Child Abuse, Menace With A Deadly Weapon, Stalking, and Violation of the Restraining Orders in December.  He took a plea bargain, and had 1 of his charges dropped down to attempted stalking in one trial. He fought the charges in the other trial, but was found guilty. He now has two felonies, and several misdemeanors. I have custody, and we finally will be able to leave the state we are in, to move back to my home state where I have family, and a support system that will help us get through this. As of right now, today, my car has broken down, and I have no way to get us HOME. I need to get my car checked out and have diagnostics done, and I need to get us out of Colorado, and back home to Ohio. We are completely secluded here, and just want to go home. My family and friends have helped as much as they can, but resources are very hard to come by.  We just want this 9, almost 10 month nightmare to end. My doctor thinks I have PTSD from the incident, I suffer from frequent nightmares, and I have been experiencing true panic attacks.. My heart goes out to those of you that suffer from frequent panic attacks. They are TERRIFYING. Thank you for reading this far.. if you have questions, I'd be more than happy to answer them.
