Support a Supermom's Fight Against Brain Cancer

Dear Friends, Family, Community, and Kindhearted Strangers,

We come before you today with heavy hearts and a plea for help. Our beloved friend, Brie, has recently received a devastating diagnosis: She has a high-grade multifocal glioblastoma, a terminal brain cancer originating from two separate points in her brain. This formidable disease has placed Brie's life on an uncertain path, filled with unimaginable challenges and difficult decisions.

The tumors that have taken root within Brie's brain present an exceptionally complex situation. One tumor resides perilously close to her right temporal lobe, while the other presses against the basal ganglia area, near the brain stem. Removing the tumor near the brain stem carries great risk due to its size, as it may cause further damage to the surrounding healthy brain tissue. The basal ganglia area plays a vital role in various functions, such as motor skills, learning, eye movements, cognition, and emotion—all essential aspects of Brie's vibrant personality.

Brie has already undergone one surgery, encompassing two crucial procedures. Firstly, doctors performed a biopsy to extract the smaller tumor near her right temporal lobe, allowing for accurate diagnosis and a better understanding of the cancer's nature. Fortunately, this tumor was successfully removed; however, about 90% of her other tumor remains with little possibility of removal. Secondly, a shunt—a flexible tube—was implanted into the ventricles of her brain. This procedure aims to alleviate the accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid, reducing the pressure within her fragile brain in order to relieve discomfort and pain.

Brie, a dedicated massage therapist who runs her own private practice, now faces a heart-wrenching reality. Given her diagnosis and the demanding treatments that lie ahead, she is no longer able to continue her work. As someone who always prioritizes the well-being of others, it is difficult for Brie to ask for help. Yet, she is now relying on the kindness and generosity of those around her.

In this time of immense need, Brie relies on the unwavering love and support of her wife and daughter. They stand by her side, providing strength and solace. Together, they face an uncertain future, grappling not only with the emotional toll of this cruel disease but also the financial burdens that arise from unexpected circumstances. Brie, who lacks life insurance, seeks to alleviate the financial strain that inevitably accompanies this difficult journey.

Therefore, we humbly ask for your support. Every contribution—no matter the size—will make an immense difference in Brie's life. All funds raised will be allocated to essential areas, including hospital bills, rent, travel expenses to and from the hospital, additional medical necessities, and, ultimately, end-of-life care, which can encompass funeral services and related costs.
