Kris vs Cancer

To know Kris is to love her. If you know her, you know exactly what I’m talking about. She is one of those rare people that can make you laugh regardless of how poorly your day has gone. She is always there to share a joke, a cute pic of her cat, or a well timed burp to get you smiling. When Kris is your friend, her trademark laugh becomes a welcome part of your daily life. (Her easily invoked startled shriek is an even more privileged encounter that’ll make you laugh until you cry!).

Recently, our friend Kris was diagnosed with Stage-Two breast cancer. To say this has been a shock is an understatement; our friend, and so young? How could this be? But after testing, it was undeniable, and Kris moved forward with treatment. After only a brief period of chemo treatment, Kris was hospitalized for six days with acute blood poisoning. After bravely conquering this extra road block, Kris’s current treatment plan is in limbo. Chemo is on hold indefinitely until she’s safely cleared to continue without further complications. Once beyond that hurdle, she’s back at the starting point for a long road to recovery.

That’s where we, her friends, come in. If you have even a dollar to spare, this is where to spend it. If Kris has ever made you laugh until you cried or held your hand while you poured your heart out or even just joined you for a drink at your local hole in the wall, please consider donating any amount you can. Kris is nowhere near done making people smile anywhere she goes.

Thank you to all that have helped with donations or shares! Kris visited with her medical team this week and will be continuing treatment in the form of protein injections in lieu of continuing chemo and radiation for the time being. We’re also looking into purchasing a quality wig as the effects of previous radiation treatments have begun to set in. Please keep Kris in your thoughts and prayers!
