Krish’s Eagle Project - Bird Boxes
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Krish Almeida, and I am currently a Sophomore at Burlington High School. I have been in scouts for quite some time now and it has taken a lot of effort to get to where I am today. I want to shed some light on my Eagle Project. For those who don’t know, an Eagle Project is a service project that scouts nearing their Eagle rank complete for a community in hopes of benefiting that community. I have reached life rank and I am ready to achieve the final rank, Eagle. I am working on completing my Eagle Project where I have decided to build Bluebird boxes for Mary Cummings Park and Stevens-Coolidge House and Gardens.
The Bird Boxes will be installed with a baffle to protect the birds from any predators. It will be built from non-pressure treated wood to keep the birds in a non-toxic environment and will have a latch for easy cleaning. Additionally, in the design, holes on the bottom of the bird box and a slanted roof will act as a drainage from rain. A prototype model is attached below for a visual representation.
During the Migrating Season, these bluebirds will be looking for homes. Building these new boxes will ensure the safety of bluebirds while also helping increase their dwindling population, continuing the pleasure for residents at Mary Cummings and Stevens-Coolidge House & Gardens. Previous bird boxes are in need of renewal so building new ones will be beneficial to the park and garden.
This project will not be easy so any donations will be greatly appreciated as it will go towards the cost for materials, tools, and supplies. I would like to thank everyone who donates and am very grateful for their support.
*update*
The Bird boxes have been installed and they are currently waiting for blue birds to arrive. Here are some picture from installation
