Dear Family, Friends, Colleagues and Supporters -
Kristen was first diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma—a rare form of blood cancer—in July 2016 after feeling ‘off’ for more than a year. At the age of 28, with an 18-month old son and husband in her corner, Kristen endured six months of chemotherapy to beat the advanced Stage IV cancer that had spread throughout her body. While this turned their world upside down, Kristen finished treatment in January 2017 and received the all clear that she had beat cancer—best news ever!
With a renewed outlook, Kristen enjoyed life as healthy person again—not taking a single day of good health for granted. She celebrated her one year anniversary of being cancer free in January 2018 with friends, family and lots of champagne!
Unfortunately, last month Kristen noticed swollen lymph nodes in her neck, an indicator of Hodgkin’s. Her doctor scheduled a PET scan, just to be safe, and the results indicated the worst: Kristen had relapsed. Kristen was sent to meet with a specialist at City of Hope where it was confirmed that the cancer had returned and now she must prepare to begin her second fight against Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Kristen will be treated at City of Hope where they specialize in the advanced treatment of cancer. She will be entering a 12-week clinical trial before undergoing a stem cell transplant, a rigorous treatment that will require a month of isolation in the hospital where she will endure intensive chemotherapy followed by a transplant of her own stem cells. After the unforeseen financial consequences of fighting her first battle with cancer, we are asking for donations to help her continue her battle a second time! Any and all funds from this campaign will allow the Fournier’s to alleviate some of the financial burden that comes with a cancer diagnosis and help provide as much normalcy as possible to their son, Holden. Over the next year, Kristen, Jake and their families will be going back and forth from Orange County to City of Hope, which will require added expenses for childcare, lodging, transportation, food and healthcare costs. Every donation is sincerely appreciated as we help Kristen beat cancer once and for all so she can get back to a happy, healthy life.
Please be kind enough to notify anyone who knows Kristen or has the ability to help!
