The Fight is on.....
Single Mom in the fight of her life !
Kristen Fonner Mohr, Navy widow and mother of two sons Karl (14) and Nickolas (12), went to the doctors for a routine visit. After some testing, they found her blood cell counts to be really low. The doctor wanted to wait a week and repeat the tests to make sure they were accurate. Unfortunately, the results were the same. Thinking it may be stomach ulcers or anemia, they decided to perform an EGD and colonoscopy.
On August 1, 2016 upon waking from her colonoscopy, she got the terrible news that she had Colon cancer and needed to immediately be seen at the Bellin Hospital in Green Bay, WI. There they did multiple tests including an MRI, CAT Scan, and a PET Scan.
On August 4, 2016, she had surgery to remove a cancer mass and her Sigmoid Colon, along with 13 lymph nodes. She was diagnosed with Stage 3 Colon Cancer. The doctors advised Chemotherapy which she will begin on Wednesday, September 28th and will last 6-7 months.
Even though she has medical insurance through the Navy from her late husband, it does not pay 100% of the expenses. She will not be able to work while going through treatment and will also have copays and travel expenses. Any donations, no matter how big or small, will go a long way. Her family also asks for good thoughts and prayers which will be greatly appeciated. Thank you for the support of Kristen and her 2 sons Karl and Nickolas. She has a long battle ahead of her but is going to do everything she can to beat Cancer.
