"Tomorrow marks one month since I found out I have breast cancer. In the last month, I have learned two things. First, mammograms do not always detect breast cancer. My mammograms date back to 2010 and have always shown a “dense” area in my left breast. Each year I would receive a letter from my doctor stating I was “good to go”. Ladies, please ask for a copy of your report from the doctor when you get a mammogram (I saw mine for the first time in September)! If you feel as though something in the report sounds suspicious, request a biopsy or MRI, both of which give a more information. This year I discovered a large mass and my mammogram still did not reveal cancer, only “something suspicious”. By the time I was diagnosed, I had Stage 3 cancer and 1 lymph node was positive. I am recovering well from surgery and I will begin chemo in mid-November for 20 weeks. Second, I have learned that I have the best family, friends, and co-workers. My friends took it upon themselves to organize dinners for our family and arrange a cleaning service to come to our home over the next few weeks. I have received the most thoughtful gifts and cards from friends and family, near and far. My company raised money to donate to my medical expenses, with the help of a friend that is also battling cancer. Last week I cried to my husband that I wanted my life back and then it dawned on me, my life has shown up. I just needed to slow down to enjoy it. My friends come to visit and we spend hours laughing and talking. I talk to my family daily. I spend more time with my mom, sister, dad, and stepmother than I have in a while. My best friend stays up with me at night via telephone to talk me through some of the difficult times and reminds me to not let cancer define me. My husband and I were only married four weeks when I was diagnosed. He has been amazing and continues to wait on me hand and foot. My children have been strong and I couldn’t be prouder of them. Thank you all for your messages, encouragement, and support! Each one of you has made this difficult journey easier than I could have ever imagined! XO ‪#‎kickcancersass‬ ‪#‎TKO‬"

HEY EVERYONE! My name is Jasmyne. My sister, Corynne, and I have teamed up in support of our mother who is fighting breast cancer. The quote above was written by her just a few days ago. Hearing the news of any family member having cancer is rough. But since day 1, with the support of friends and family and our mother's coworkers, we have built a forcefield of strength and hope for her!

She will be undergoing chemo starting November 16th for 20 weeks preceding radiation. We are hoping to raise about $5,000 over the course of the next month as she begins her next chapter of her journey. Our mother always has been the mold that holds our family together! She continues to remain in good spirits and I see her become more humble as time goes on. My sister and I will be greatly appreciative of anyone willing to donate. Anything helps and with your support, our mother will continue to stay strong during the most difficult time of her life. We thank you so very much!

Much love,

Jasmyne and Corynne
