Kristi Ann Holt - Emmy Nomination Trip to Henson!

Hi! My name is Kristi and since I was 4 years old I dreamed of working with the Jim Henson Company with puppets. The Henson Lot was always a place of unrequited dreams for me where Kermit and all his friends lived. I have never been there but always dreamed that one day I would.

I am now a professional puppet fabricator & puppeteer that currently lives in Toronto, Canada with my daughter and two small dogs. I worked on Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock as a fabricator/ puppet wrangler for both Season 1 and Season 2 (not yet released).

We just found out that it was nominated for two Children & Family Emmy Awards - one for "Fiction Special" and the second is a new category "Puppet Design & Styling". This is the first time ever it will be presented! Even more cool is that MY name is on the list of nominees for Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock episode "Night of the Lights". This was mind blowing news! I never imagined that I would be nominated for an Emmy because there was never an award for what I do! Excited, the team looked into going to the Emmy Award show together but we quickly realized the limited seats available and so I was just extremely happy that I was recognized along with the rest of our talented team and the other amazing Nominees.

Two days ago, The Jim Henson Company emailed each of the nominees inviting me and the other nominees to join them on the Henson Lot in Hollywood California on December 15th for a "Puppet-y Emmy Happy Hour" with performances from their star puppeteers. We will be watching the Emmy Awards together!

As I am a single parent, and having been without any stable work since Season Two of Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock ended in February and then due to the film strikes, I do not have the funds to go. I focus all my efforts into raising my daughter but at times I barely make ends meet to buy groceries each week. I take as many commissions as I can, do odd jobs but I also have an unfortunate physical condition that doctors have been following since 2020. It has worsened in the last few months which is slowing me down and preventing me from being my usual go-getter self. Hopefully in January surgery will help with this condition but in this current state physically and financially I am strapped to be able to make this happen by myself.

I let my friends, family and colleagues know on Facebook that I was invited and the response was overwhelming. They want to support me to go!! A very kind friend and the Prop Master for Season 2, Kesar Lacroix, purchased the flights for me to go to the party to represent our tight knit set family. Now I just need a place to stay and money for food & other incidentals from December 14th to the 18th.

The donation will pay for transportation from the LAX airport to the Henson Lot and back again (approximately $100 USD each direction.

It will also cover accommodation from December 14th to 18th which due to the awards is inflated at approximately $250-280+ per night. This is approximately $1180 USD which is $1593. 28 Canadian currently at the exchange rate of 1.35.

This money will also cover food, entry fees and other transportation costs or incidentals during the four day trip.

I am a very thrifty person as I have been a single parent since my daughter was 1.5 years old. Somehow I have made it work despite going after my dreams on a very limited budget in the expensive city of Toronto so I can make it work for 4 days in LA too. I am asking for the minimum to get by knowing that Go Fund Me will keep some of the money raised for their fees.

I am fundraising to be able to live not only my dream but represent my Canadian Fraggle Family from the unofficial Creature Shop North of Calgary!
