Kristin Hurd Open Heart Surgery Recovery Fund
Donation protected
We have an opportunity to help Kristin Hurd, her wife Lisa, and their son Grayson.
If you know Kristin, Lisa, and Grayson, you know the fun, love and the joy they bring to their friends, family, and community. They have always been heavily involved in service and helping so many others who need hope in the world.
Unfortunately, Kristin has a congenital heart condition that was corrected 12 years ago, but returned over the holidays with far more serious complications.
Two nights ago, symptoms were so severe she was rushed by ambulance to the emergency room.
The original mitral valve replacement malfunctioned, causing it to only narrowly open, and severely restricting blood flow to the heart and brain. She not only needs a second full mitral valve replacement, but also needs repairs to her tricuspid valve, which plays a critical role in connecting the heart to the lungs. It was damaged trying to compensate for the malfunctioning of the mitral valve. Her symptoms were shortness of breath, exhaustion, weakness when doing minimal activity, and fluid build up in her lungs.
Surgery is now scheduled for 1/19. It is a long, high-risk surgery with a three to four month recovery. The valve’s malfunctioning and the further damage to the second valve was certainly not expected at this time. The good news is that Kristin’s medical team is hopeful they can address the situation with a full recovery.
Kristin is a bright light who deeply touches the lives of all who know her. She has played a key role in raising millions of dollars for at-risk youth, the LGBTQ+ community, and serving as a board member to several organizations over the years. Most importantly, she is an outstanding mother, wife, mentor, loyal friend, and ally. The people she loves and believes in always come first in her life, heart and priorities.
Kristin & Lisa are entrepreneurs and have put their heart and soul into creating Lisa's 1973 a health-inspired collection of food products made with anti-inflammatory ingredients. Their mission is to help to make a difference in their customer’s health and well-being, especially those like Kristin who benefit from health-giving and heart-honoring ingredients.
Now, so many of us want to step up and help them in a very scary and uncertain time. Please consider supporting them as they navigate this health crisis.
Money will be used towards medical bills, medication, aftercare, and essential living expenses until Kristin can consult and work again. Because she has a pre-existing congenital heart condition, she does not qualify for disability or life insurance. Lisa will be caring for both Kristin and their 10 year old son Grayson during this time, and working as time permits.
The love and support they have received from their community is carrying through this very precarious time in their lives.
