Kristin Kalin (& Family) Medical and Travel Costs

Kristin Kalin was admitted to the Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars, IA on the morning of Tuesday, April 2nd. There they took a CT Scan and discovered a tumor. They sent Kristin to Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center in Sioux Falls, SD via ambulance where she had an MRI and additional testing done. The MRI proved further that there was a tumor (about the size of an egg) that needed immediate attention. She went into surgery on Wednesday, April 3rd to get a biopsy and remove as much of the tumor as possible. MRI scans on Thursday, April 4th indicate that they were able to remove the majority (if not all) of the tumor but biopsy results will not be back until sometime next week (we will update you all with results when we have them).

Kristin has been passing all cognitive tests and seems to be recovering well but there is still a long path ahead. The biopsy results will let us know if the tumor is benign or malignant and will tell us more about what the future will look like for their family going forward.

Kristin Kalin is a wonderful wife to her husband Billy Kalin and amazing mother to their two children Johnny (4) and Anna (1). She and her family live in Merrill, IA. She is a School Psychology Assistant at the Northwest AEA. She is currently working towards her Masters in School Psychology through University of Northern Iowa. Kristin and her family are active members of the All Saints Catholic Church in Le Mars, IA.
