Kristina McMurtrey's med bills from Lyme disease
Donation protected
Two years ago, Kristina came home from a trip to an Eastern Washington lake very very sick. One month later, after blood work ruling out any known illnesses, she was given a clinical diagnosis of Lyme disease. Through various rounds and styles of treatments over the last two years she has shown mild improvement then crashes after.
Kristina has good days and bad days, but the bad days are really tough. They look like:
-Having to lay down nearly all day
-Joint pain so bad that working on a computer or phone is challenging, let alone moving around.
-Fatigue so severe that Shawn will end up carrying her to bed
-Migraines
-Fever and nausea
-challenging anxiety
She is now working with a specialist in Seattle who confirmed 5 active tick borne infections and 5 strains of mycotoxins as the causes of these symptoms. This is a more specific diagnoses then she has ever received and with it treatment can be hyper specific and effective. We feel hopeful that she is on the right treatment path, and that there is a good chance for a meaningful recovery.
Unfortunately, all of these treatment options have not been covered by insurance regardless of her recent blood work and the state health department confirming the diagnosis. They have exhausted savings and are now trying to find additional sources of income to cover this medical work, with the goal of a nearly full recovery over the course of the next 2-3 years.
Any help is appreciated as the road ahead is going to be long. If you know Kristina and Shawn, then you know how much they care for others, give generously, are hospitable to all, love their neighbor, and care deeply for their kids and family. Anything we can collectively do to support them would mean the world to them.
