In April of 2020, Kristine (Mitchell) Setser, 40, was diagnosed with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH), a rare, incurable, and life-threatening disease that affects only 2% of the US population.
The good news is, her type of PAH (or PH) is Pulmonary Chronic Thromboembolic (CTEPH), which is the ONLY form of PH that is curable!
The treatment for this type of PH is a very invasive procedure called Pulmonary Thromboendarterectomy (PTE). This surgery is only performed by 4 doctors in the country. The #1 doc is here in Ann Arbor Michigan and he is Kristy’s surgeon!
This surgery will require Kristy to stay a minimum of 14 days in the hospital. The full recovery from surgery is a long 4-6 month road. Kristy, nor her husband, who will be caring for her and their 6-year-old son, will be able to work during this time, adding to the financial burden.
The exorbitant medical bills mainly due to the extremely expensive PTE surgery along with the two weeks in ICU, not to mention appointments with specialists, the procedures she has already endured, medications, and a lifetime of follow-up are overwhelming. Although they have good medical insurance it doesn't 100%. The out-of-pocket expenses for the Setsers will be upwards of $100k.
Please prayerfully consider donating to support the Setsers! They also covet your prayers.
Much love and gratitude,
Four of The Fab Five, aka Kristy's 4 Siblings
