Father and Son both Have Stage 4 Cancer

Donation protected

Kristion (Kris) Kim was diagnosed with Retroperitoneal Liposarcoma in February 2019. He had a 14 hour dissection (surgery) that removed a 25 pound tumor. He had scans every three months and was considered NED (No Evidence of Disease) for a little over a year. In September 2020 during a routine scan they found that Kris had a reoccurrence of cancer. Kris went through a strenuous course of radiation to shrink the tumors and to hopefully save organ loss in his surgery. Kristion had a second surgery in February of 2021. Unfortunately in that surgery the cancer was so much more advanced. The cancer had invaded several organs. Kris lost his left kidney, left ureter, left adrenal gland, spleen, half his pancreas, part of his colon, part of his diaphragm, his left lumborum muscles, a partial duodenectomy, three parts of his intestines, left femoral nerve, parts of his aortacaval nerves, and part of his bowels. The cancer had invaded all of this in a matter of months. After his surgery the cancer team told us that he would likely have a reoccurrence. In July of this year 2022. Kristion was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Recurrent Dedifferentiated Retroperitoneal Liposarcoma. This is a terminal diagnosis for Kristion. Kris began a palliative chemotherapy regimen to give him quality of life. In December 2021 Kristion’s dad Yeon Kim was diagnosed with stage 4 Renal Cell Carcinoma. The cancers each of them have are not related to each other. On November 25, 2022 Thanksgiving Evening after spending a dinner with his beautiful family Yeon passed away suddenly. The family is devastated. Yeon is a father to 6 children and three stepchildren. His youngest being three years old. The family has no financial resources as they were still waiting for disability for Yeon. Cancer does not care if you can pay your bills. The family needs assistance with rent, electricity, gas, water, and other household and living expenses. Also funeral expenses for Yeon. Please if you are able to donate please do. This would help our family tremendously. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
