Kristy Newman's Fight Against Cancer

Dear Friends and Family,

I am reaching out today to share the heartbreaking news of our family member and friend Kristy Newman. As many of you know Kristy was diagnosed with a rare cancer called synovial sarcoma in her lung back in January 2022. She endured several weeks of chemotherapy and then finally had surgery to remove the cancer which resulted in her losing a lung. Kristy was in remission and her battle with cancer was finally gone.

In May 2023, Kristy returned to the hospital when her leg started going numb. Unfortunately, the news was not good, cancer had returned and now it was in her spine. Several tumors were found and the cancer was wrapped around her spine, literally crushing her spine. Kristy was sent into surgery immediately to remove the cancer and place rods in her back to fix the damage that cancer had already caused. Kristy’s next step was rehab to learn to walk again after the surgery. Kristy was progressing well and finally walking.

On June 2nd, Kristy’s legs would not cooperate and she was unable to get out of bed. The nurses immediately called her doctor at Vanderbilt and she was sent back for an MRI. On June 3rd, Kristy and Jonathan received the devastating news that cancer has spread up and down her spine into her neck and possibly into her brain. After the prognosis from the doctor, we are praying for a miracle. The only option right now is to do 5 radiation treatments with the hope that this will kill the cancer. They are unable to do chemo at this time because Kristy’s body is too weak. Jonathan is consulting with MD Anderson in Texas for a 2nd opinion in hopes they can do something more.

With this new's we are humbly reaching out to our friends and family who may read this message. We are in desperate need of your prayers, love and financial contributions to help alleviate the financial strain on Kristy and her family. This would help Jonathan focus on what truly matters, Kristy’s well-being, and not have to worry about how the monthly bills will get paid and the additional medical expenses. Your support will make a tangible difference, providing the family time to spend with Kristy and the best possible care available.
