Kristy Varga's Fight for Survival

Hi my name is Megan Varga, and it is with a heavy heart I'm fundraising for my sister in law Kristy Varga. Kristy is a beloved member of our family, is a wonderful wife, mother, daughter and sister. She is 41 years old, and has 4 beautiful children the youngest of which is only 5 years old.

Kristy was admitted to the ER on Nov 16th, with pneumonia. She immediately was put in the ICU as her kidneys were in distress and sepsis had set in. Within 24 of being hospitalized, Kristy went onto a ventilator. Kristy's diagnosis is Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS).

Kristy has been on a ventilator for over 2 weeks, but that was not sufficient to keep her oxygen levels where they need to be. She is now on an ECMO machine, which is essentially life support for your lungs. Sadly, she has struggled to improve and the Dr's are now saying she may need a double lung transplant.

My brother Brandon has been by Kristy's side 24/7 and sleeps in her room at the ICU each night. He has been unable to work during this time while he manages her care, and also juggles the care of their 5 year old daughter. We are uncertain if this season will last months or years, but we are so grateful for the hundreds of people praying and asking how they can help over the last few weeks that have felt like a living nightmare.
