Kru Collingsworth surgery 3/21/17

Kru is an adorable 8 year old lilttle man who started having horrible migraine headaches. After several doctor appointments and  visits with the neurologist it was determined that Kru has Chiari Malformation.  To best describe this condition is to explain that the   lower part of his brain is displaced into the spinal canal. This causes poor circulation of spinal fluid. The doctors need to decompress the area by moving or removing the obstructions to relieve his pain. Easy Peasy? Not so much ! Kru will under-go  surgery for up to 4 hours and spend several days in ICU. Then spend several more days in the hospital. After returning home Kru is not allowed any stimulation whatsoever. NO T.V., no video games, no visitors, only soft music, maybe a story read to him and low lights for weeks. Have you ever tried to keep an 8 year old still and calm for that long? His total recovery is expected to be at least 6 months. I am asking that we all come together and help these parents and Kru out as they will be missing a great deal of work to tend and care for Kru during his recovery.
