Krueger Strong-Help Patti Fight Osteosarcoma
Donation protected
Patti Krueger and her family have endured immense challenges in recent years. In addition to dealing with their son’s rare genetic condition that has drained their savings, the Krueger family has been dealt another devastating blow.
In June, after being referred to the Sarcoma Program in the Cancer Center at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Patti received a diagnosis of high-grade osteosarcoma in her big toe. Osteosarcoma is an aggressive and fast-progressing form of bone cancer. Her big toe was amputated shortly thereafter and further testing showed that immediate and intensive chemotherapy is required. All treatment will take place at Rush in Chicago and will last at least 28 weeks. Six rounds of the treatment will take place on an outpatient basis, but each will require 3-night hotel stays so that Patti can get follow-up care. The other twelve rounds will necessitate 3-5 days of inpatient hospital care.
The financial burden of this diagnosis cannot be overstated. While the Kruegers have health insurance, they still face substantial out-of-pocket costs for medication, travel, and lodging. Dealing with these expenses while keeping up on regular bills will be difficult, especially because Jake will need to take unpaid time off to help care for Patti and their three boys.
We have launched this GoFundMe campaign to help alleviate the Krueger family’s financial hardships and provide the critical support required to help Patti conquer cancer. Our initial goal is to raise $10,000 to cover treatment expenses and provide a sense of stability during this tumultuous period.
Your contribution, no matter the size, will make an immeasurable difference for the Kruegers, freeing them to focus on the difficult journey of treatment. Please donate whatever you can and spread the word about this campaign through your social networks.
Another way to help is by donating hotel or credit card points toward a room at the Rush Hospital Hyatt House where Patti will stay during her treatments.
