Krystal Reardon Medical Expenses

Donation protected
Krystal Reardon suffered a heart attack in the early morning on 4/11/23. As many of you know this is unfortunately not her first. Due to existing medical conditions including her kidney transplant a few years ago this heart attack has taken quite the toll on her body and she is currently in the cardiac ICU and has been fighting hard to stay alive and beat the odds stacked against her.

The plan was to go slow and try to save as much kidney function as they could and perform bypass surgery when her kidneys recovered a bit from the medications she was given to stop the heart attack.

On 4/13/23 she had to go in for emergency abdominal surgery while waiting for her kidney function to stabilize because she developed a clot in her intestines. We weren’t sure she was going to be strong enough to make it through that surgery but she is a fighter and wasn’t about to let that stop her! They ended up having to remove quite a bit of bowel and leave her incision open to prevent infection and give her a chance to recover. They also left her intubated and sedated to help her body to recover and rest.

The next morning it was determined that she was still showing signs of heart attack so she was taken emergently to have a stent placed. While we were all hoping she would be able to have bypass surgery, her medical and surgical team decided that stenting was the better safer option.

Krystal is still intubated and sedated but she has stabilized enough for them to attempt to close her abdomen today. Her kidney and cardiac function are also improving now that she has had the stent placed!

She still has a long journey of surgery and recovery ahead of her

We are raising funds to help cover some of the expenses that’s being in the ICU and having to undergo multiple life saving procedures will produce. She is still paying off medical debt from her kidney transplant and we would like to start by trying to raise enough to eliminate that debt for her.

Krystal has been a nurse with Maine General for over 20 years filling different roles in that time. She loves her work family and cares deeply about her patients and works very hard to make sure the people around her are taken care of. She is a wife, mother of two (plus multiple fur babies), and grandmother. Any money raised will be greatly appreciated and will help to get Krystal back to doing and enjoying what she loves most when she makes it through this difficult time.
