A Place to Call Home

Hello everyone. My name is Shilo and some of you may know me from working with me at EQC and others possibly from being a customer of mine. I am sure some of you may not know though that my family and I have been homeless since the end of June. We've slept in our Suburban for awhile and than we have been in motels.

Where we have been staying for the last few months has been rife with danger. Several OD deaths, a double homicide, and a 6 hour SWAT standoff to name a few things we've experienced here. We are still grateful though to have a roof over our heads and jobs to keep us fed.

We have been searching for housing and spent hundreds on application fees and have been scammed out of several thousand dollars we had in savings in the process.

We have not given up hope though. Recently we had a few hundred dollars saved and were going to use it for Christmas since we had stopped looking for housing for the last month.

We used it to put a homeless dad and his son up in a room here at the motel though. My husband and I, as parents/grandparents truly couldn't leave the little guy out in the cold. Our son, Sean, also put together a bag of goodies for the little guy. I am so grateful for my job that gave me the ability to have the money in savings to do this though!

On a whim I started looking for housing again and found a wonderful home for us.

Having been turned down several times due to credit, I decided to take a different approach and include an email about us and our situation with our applications. 100% transparency.

And by the grace of God it worked! We have been offered the home!!!

Unfortunately we are unable to secure the move in costs though.

I am keenly aware that this time of year is especially difficult for all of us financially. I am also aware there are so many in need.

I tried reaching out to community service agencies for assistance and we are about $200 over their income guidelines for assistance with move in costs.

This leaves me with reaching out to you...
My friends...
My family...
My coworkers...

I am humbly asking you to please find it in your heart and income to donate towards our emergent need.

Even $1 or $5 is that much closer to what we need to not be homeless anymore.

This home is such an incredible opportunity and blessing for us!!! I truly can't bring myself to consider we could potentially miss out on this...I want to remain hopeful and have faith!

I appreciate and love you all very much and am so grateful for every penny donated and every share!
