Bryson's Heart
Donation protected
I have created this go fund me in hopes of helping a dear friend and fellow NICU nurse . No parent should have to stress over work, bills, food, and money while their child is severely ill. Ashly's son Bryson will need a heart transplant due to his restrictive cardiomyopathy. In just a few weeks Ashly will need to take time off work as Bryson will be admitted to UF Health Shands hospital in Gainesville, FL. Please join me in helping raise money to allow Bryson's parents take time off of work to spend with him and to help with any expenses (medical, travel, housing, food, etc.)
I know times have been difficult for many of us but we would greatly appreciate any donation. NO amount is too small. EVERY LITTTLE PENNY ADDS UP.
Bryson's story.
In December 2019 Bryson was diagnosed with severe hypertrophic cardiomyopathy after having a respiratory virus that caused the expression of his genetic mutation that was specific for cardiomyopathy.
In January Ashly had to do her first round of CPR on him due to a breath holding spell causing his heart to stop. Then five more times in February of 2020 right after his first birthday.
In October 2020 Bryson became severely anemic not related to his heart condition but due to his heart he was admitted and transfused to ensure it did not create any cardiac issues. That’s when the echo started showing possible signs of restrictive cardiomyopathy. Bryson's parents were advised if he does have restrictive that the prognosis is poor due to it being rare and no medication or intervention improving the outcome. They were told if he continued to show signs of RCM on echo then he would need a cath.
This past Tuesday April 20th 2021 RCM was confirmed due to his heart now causing holes between the two ventricles to relieve pressure that is building up in the left ventricle. And due to his hypertrophic cardiomyopathy worsening it is causing blood to back up into the left atrium which has now caused dilated cardiomyopathy. If they were to wait too long to list him for transplant he may become too sick too quick to be eligible for transplant so that is why his is being listed now to increase the likelihood that he makes it through a transplant. So in 3-4 weeks Bryson will be admitted for Pre Transplant evaluation which will include a heart cath and brain MRI and then from there they will decide to list him 1A status. Bryson's parents will stay at the hospital until he receives his new heart or go home for a month and recheck.
