Edwards Family Fire Fund

Donation protected
This is the only fundraiser for Benny and Kalee Edwards who, on April 12th, lost their home of 25 years to a fire.

In the late 1980's, Benny and Kalee had just gotten married and were about to take that big first step. They came across 20 acres of virgin land in North West Lubbock through the Veterans Land Board. Benny spent many evenings sitting out on the land praying that God would show him a sign on if they should purchase the land. One evening, he saw the most beautiful sunset he's ever witnessed and he knew, it was God telling him to do it. Kalee, Benny and Josh moved onto the land soon after in a 27 Ft Winnebago WITH a loft (Mom made the loft part very important to this story). Over the years, they grew their farmstead to a single-wide trailer house and 2 more boys to help tend to the needs of the land and foster a new generation.

In the early 2000's, following the closing and liquidation of Reese Air Force Base, they purchased their 1970 Pier and Beam home. Upon arrival, the ceiling had fallen in which gave Kalee the opportunity to get her cathedral ceilings put in! There was alot of work to do to get the home ready for the family but with skill, determination, and lots of help from friends and family, the house was move in ready by Christmas of the same year.

Since then, many additions were added to the home like the Texas Limestone façade, the utility room, attached deck and pool that saw many a party (including one kick-ass luau hosted by Dillon), a few interior upgrades, and to cap it all off, the most beautiful Log Cabin inspired front porch that was completed mere months ago.

All of these projects were done by hand by my Dad with help from my Mom, brothers, and many more friends and family. We made that house a home and took pride in every  single completed project. We had most of our birthdays, Christmas celebrations, and other get togethers there. This home served us well for over 20 years.

On April 12th, around 2 PM, the fire started somewhere behind the house and quickly intensified with the western winds. In no time, most of the home was engulfed in flames. The West Carlisle, Shallowater, and Idalou Fire Departments did what they could to contain the blaze but were unsuccessful in saving the home. Thankfully, we have been blessed to find some pictures still in tact and remain hopeful that as we move forward with clean up in the following days, we will find even more items.

We, their sons, have gotten so many offers of help and support from family, friends, neighbors, and members of the community that have shown us how much everyone loves and supports our family. We set up this fundraiser to give everyone the opportunity to share their messages of love and support while also being able to support them financially.

Any money raised here will go directly to Benny and Kalee to help with any immediate financial needs they may have moving forward.

Josh, Zach and I (Dillon) want to personally thank everyone for their continued prayers and messages of love and support. While we continue to help our parents move forward, we ask you all to continue to pray for God to shed his light on us in our darkest hour. In everything we do, we give glory to him. Thanks again for everything.
