Rallying Around Ryan

We are reaching out to you all today on behalf of our son-in-law Ryan, to ask for your support and prayers. As many of you have come to know Ryan, his infectious smile and his love for the outdoors. His need to always lend a helping hand is nothing short of praiseworthy. Ryan is a 2019 graduate of the Palmyra Macedon High School and Wayne Technical Career Center. He is currently employed at the Town of Perinton.

Our daughter Jenna and Ryan recently married and had a beautiful baby girl named Ella. Ryan was devastatingly diagnosed with a brain tumor shortly after his daughter was born. Ryan has had multiple consults, imaging, scans and appointments with Oncologists and Neurosurgeons here in Rochester and Buffalo. Unfortunately, due to the size and placement of the tumor, the surgery cannot be done here in New York. After further imaging, it was determined that the tumor is further embedded into Ryan’s brain than was initially expected. We were advised by the medical staff here in New York, that Ryan’s best option would be to meet with a specialist in San Francisco who deals with these specific types of tumors, as they are extremely rare and very high risk. The part of the brain that the tumor is attached to is what controls Ryan’s speech, vision and motor skills. This surgery will be very lengthy and Ryan will need to remain awake for a portion of it, so they can manipulate certain parts of his brain and map out the best possible route for the resection. We do know at this point that the whole tumor will not be able to be removed due to its placement. We do not know exactly what any of the following treatment options will look like at this time.

There are still many unanswered questions and moving pieces to the puzzle right now, as far as what the near future is going to look like. We have started this Go Fund Me account to ease the financial burden, as both of them will be out of work while in San Francisco. Over the next few days, weeks and months ahead, they will need to be at countless doctor appointments, hospital stays and surgeries. This will require tremendous love and support, as the medical costs can truly be astronomical. We are hoping that this will help enable Ryan and Jenna to focus on Ryan’s health and relieve some of the stress and pressure financially for them.
