Human Kindness Campaign

Do you ever see a person in need and feel torn about how to respond to them? What can you do? What should you say? What should you give? Sometimes, just knowing someone cares for you makes all the difference in the world. 

This campaign will support efforts to spread kindness through the sharing of small-scale resources to people who are homeless. It will also support educational conversations that spread awareness and increase our community's preparedness to engage with those who are most in need.

Every Friday we are loading up our wagon with food and supplies to hand-deliver them to people experiencing homelessness in downtown Tampa.  

People become homeless for a variety of reasons, many of which are often largely beyond a person’s control. Once homeless, the lack of available and affordable housing, access to healthcare, and other support services, prevent people from becoming housed. 

In 2018, 552,830 people were homeless in the United States. In Tampa alone, on any given night there are at least 1,650 men, women, and children sleeping on the street. 

We may not be able to singlehandedly account for the lack of available resources or solve the addiction crisis but we can spread kindness on an individual level.

Wet body wipes
Fingernail clippers
Razors for shaving
Drawstring backpacks
Water bottles
Feminine hygiene products
Bus passes
Card of contact info for local support services
Canned food
Individually wrapped snacks
Basic pharmaceutical supplies (Advil, antacids, Neosporin, etc.)
