To honor the upcoming twenty-fifth birthday of Kristina Tonteri-Young, a small group of stans from Twitter decided to launch this donation drive to take this opportunity to show our love and appreciation for the kind, beautiful, and talented person that she is.

Inspired by Katerina’s story, Kristina Tonteri-Young’s adopted cat, who had been found and rescued in Puerto Rico behind a dumpster in a rainstorm as well as Kelly Slater’s 10 for Ten, an American professional surfer who had been crowned World Surf League champion 11 times and been part of philanthropic causes — we have chosen the Best Friends Animal Society (https://bestfriends.org) as the organization to donate to for this drive. Also known as BFAS or simply “Best Friends,” this organization, based in Utah, United States, is the leading animal welfare organization working to end the killing of dogs and cats in America's shelters by 2025.

Founded in 1984, BFAS is a pioneer in the no-kill movement and has helped reduce the number of animals killed in shelters from an estimated 17 million per year to around 347,000. With the help of its partner organizations and celebrity supporters, it operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and is the nation’s largest sanctuary for homeless animals providing adoption, spay/neuter, and educational programs. It provides regional programs in Atlanta, Houston, Los Angeles, New York City, Salt Lake City, and Northwest Arkansas with notable No-Kill programs in Utah (NKUT) and Los Angeles (NKLA). To date, it has 4,000+ partner shelters and rescues.

This donation drive is set to a goal of $1,000 and all proceeds will go to Best Friends in honor of Kristina Tonteri-Young’s birthday.
