Philadelphia is considered one of the poorest cities in the United States, and its poverty rate is double the United States average at 23.1%. When people think of poverty, they often think of needs such as food insecurity, clothing, and shelter. Oftentimes, however, basic dental hygiene is forgotten. Because Medicare and Medicaid barely cover dental care in most states, many low-income individuals are not able to pay for dentures. One piece in Pennsylvania can average around $1,200 without insurance, meaning a full top and bottom set would be $2,400. Many people living in poverty suffer from tooth loss. Some who have decaying or missing teeth can face discrimination. For example, some people are mislabeled and stereotyped as "drug addicts," which can significantly impact their careers and limit job offers. This will create a cycle of poverty that is extremely difficult to break. Furthermore, it can lead to many other health conditions and complications due to malnutrition. Although times may be troublesome, the Denture 4 You Foundation is here to help! We are kindly asking for any amount of donation to help break the healthcare barrier. All proceeds will be donated directly to the Denture 4 You Foundation to provide dentures for those in need. We hope to provide light into these people's lives to help them have a brighter future. Let the "denture-making" begin! Who is willing to join us?
