Widow Assistance For Dawn Miles
Spende geschützt
Hello gofundme! I am writing this today for my dad, Christopher. My dad was in the hospital from May 12th-June 20th. As of June 2nd we have recieved no more help from the insurance company and need all the help we can get!
On May 12th 2017, My father was taken by ambulance to GBMC hospital at 1:00AM. He could not breathe even though was already on a full time oxygen tank. He also could not walk and couldn’t really move. His legs were really swollen with 45 pounds of fluid backing up on him. After running tests at GBMC they said he had the congestive heart failure and a bacterial infection in his blood stream. He was then transferred to Union Memorial hospital in Baltimore on Mother’s day.
At Union Memorial hospital, the bacteria infection was found to be Staphlacocus and went through his body putting him into congestive heart failure, liver failure, caused his spleen to have a stroke, and attached itself to my fathers mechanical aortic heart valve causing the valve not to work. He is also having organ issues because of the valve which added 40 pounds of fluid on him causing high pressure in his heart and lungs. He has been through two cat scans, brain scan, chest x-rays, a heart catheterization, a TEE of the heart, a sonogram of abdominal area, ekg, two echocardiograms, and still has liver testing to go through and as well as had a main line put in so the meds he is on goes to the heart. With all that being said my father is going to have to have another open heart surgery.
Due to the insurance company not wanting to cover 3 weeks of his hospital stay or cover any of his care the hospital discharged him to go home with in- home nursing care to get the fluid off and then go back to assess him for open heart surgery. The open-heart surgery will be his second open heart surgery he will have under his belt. He will have the valve replaced which will allow him to no longer have to take Coumadin (a very aggressive blood thinner) and he will have the hole in his heart patched up.
As a family, this has been a tough time, especially financially because of insurance declining to help. My dad also is suffering from a spinal cord injury and has had 10 + surgeries all over his body. As well as 2 heart attacks, a pace maker, spinal transfusion, and much much more. Finacially we can not handle of any of this plus extra care. The only source of income is dads social security disability. Without the surgery my fathers condition will get worse than it already is and would end up in critical condition from the failure of his valve. He would not survive . My mother is a 3 time cancer survivor and is taking care of my dad. My dads social security is all the income he has coming in and without this we wouldn’t have a way to have food on the table and pay bills. Now with the extra burden of all the hospital bills coming in, my dad can barely make it month to month now.
Seeing my father live is all that matters right now. My dad does not have a lot but has always helped anyone that needed help and now he needs a lot of help. Anything that anyone can do to help would be a great help.
January of this year 2020 father to Meagan, Chris, and Brandon husband to Dawn lost his fight Chris got a infection and went into septic shock Chris fought to the very end he fought with so much courage and strength that I his wife admired as many other's did as well my heart is broken at times it hurts to just breathe when Chris died I lost his income I will need to get a job when I'm physically able to until then I need temporary assistance with groceries and keeping my electric running and other small necessities and with getting the last of Chris medical paid off I'm now a widow having to start over any help that anyone can give to me I would greatly appreciate as I go through this painful loss and trying to navigate through all this again thank you and God bless
