Kuma is SICK and needs expensive tests!
Donation protected
Hi all! So first off doing this feels really weird, but Kuma is our first fur baby, so I need to just get over my pride and ask for the help we need to help him. On Dec 10th 2018, after weeks of weird stomach issues and a weekend of not being able to keep food or water down, our Great Pyrenees Kuma was diagnosed with megaesophagus, which basically means for some reason his esophagus has ballooned out to more 5 times its normal size. That his esophagus isn’t working properly puts Kuma at risk of aspiration pneumonia, which can be life threatening. So our vet recommended we take Kuma to Edmonton or Vancouver for special diagnostic testing to see if we can figure out while Kuma’s esophagus is SO huge and if we can then fix it. In the mean time we have to feed in in a completely vertical position at every meal and keep him sitting fully upright for 30 minutes after any food or else he is at risk of aspirating food into his lungs and becoming very sick very quickly.Yesterday I spoke to the clinic in Edmonton and when I asked for a price estimate their manager, after speaking with a specialist who reviewed Kuma’s case, said that testing might cost up to 3000 dollars. Now, we do not have that kind of money lying around, so we are asking for you wonderful humans to send us and our pupper any holiday cheer you might have by donating money, so we can see the specialist in Edmonton on January 3rd 2019. I know its a big total amount, but at this point we will take anything to help out. I just want to say thank you to everyone who has reached out and offered support and ideas etc for fundraising. We appreciate all the help so much. And we will make sure to keep this page updated as things progress, so keep an eye out! ❤️ Petra, Bradley, Kuma and Tika
