Let's Talk About It

Hey there,
This is Kaylee Mahan, director of Collective Moments Dance Company, and Tess Liddy, director of Tess Saoirse Dance Company, here! Welcome to Let’s Talk About It.
We are just a month away from our POP-UP Performance of Let's Talk About It - so let’s talk about it!
Let’s Talk About It is being supported as an event in the POP Series; the companies are provided a rental rate less than the standard rates at Arts at the Armory.
The POP Series is in part funded by an American Rescue Plan Act grant from the city of Somerville.
That being said we are rehearsing, transporting, and fully funding out of our own two pockets. A little bit about us and where our budget source comes from: Kaylee Mahan is a dance teacher located throughout Massachusetts and has paid fully out of her pocket for company expenses for the past 3 years, this project is one of them.
Tess Sairse Liddy works for the Boston Public Schools as a special education teacher. When not teaching, she runs her own dance company, on top of working towards her Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Applied Behavior Analysis.
So what is Let’s Talk About It?
A SHOW DEDICATED TO ADDRESSING THEMES OF MENTAL HEALTH, NEURODIVERSITY, NEGATIVE SELF-TALK, AND SUICIDE.
Let’s Talk About It brings together two companies to create an hour-long show addressing the themes mentioned above; half Tess, half Kaylee.
Cost breakdown:
The initial cost for pop-up performance is $350, with Marley flooring: $450.
For our dancers to dance safely, we have put down marley flooring at an additional $100 dollar cost. This does not include our $50 weekly rehearsal expenses we have paid January - April together.
We are asking for donations to help fund this self-funded project. It’s important to create spaces about the things that are often experienced by all and talked about by few.
