Sage Sankofa is a black non-binary visual artist and educator. They are a Philadelphia based film/digital photographer and creative director who has a passion for photography and documentaries. The purpose of their work is rooted in sharing black stories and black voices in a hopes of creating a safer and inclusive space in media for black people.
Through Sage’s 8 year professional track of providing LGBTQ Compenency & Racial justice trainings at schools, universities, & conferences, they are motivated and ready to protect and uplift the black queer community. By documenting our experiences the world to see, they will accomplish that.
But they also need your help in the process. I am making this gofundme to support my move to Atlanta, Ga.
As a black non-binary person, I have had to support myself since I was 16. Today I could use some support.
My roommates recently decided to not renew our lease and by October 1st, 2020 we must all be moved out.
I can not afford to take over the lease alone or live here without roommates. Due Covid-19 I have been financially impacted as a freelance eductor and photographer by having gigs and trainings cancelled. I also do not qualify for unemployment and recently lost my job.
As a black educator and creative moving to Atlanta, this move would provide me opportunities to bring my knowledge & skills to the south. I plan to expand LGBTQ compenacy trainings in Atlanta schools because black queer students in south need support. I also plan to obtain a M.F.A in photography at Georgia State University while living in atlanta (within 2-3 years of moving). Philadelphia is a place I've outgrown due to many traumatic events and relationships that have occured since being raised here.

$5000
-- This will go to securing housing ( deposit fees, security, application fees, first & last etc). & will also go towards at least 2 months rent to get me started.
--This will support moving fees ( Plane tickets, gas money etc. moving fees)
--- $600 will be designated to emergencies
This move is VERY much essential for my mental health, and would love and appreciate any support provided, even if its a $1 or a share. Thank you so much
