Support the Katterjohns and Suicide Prevention
Donation protected
My name is Jenna and I'm fundraising on behalf of my dear friend Julia Katterjohn's family following the death of her brother, Daniel Katterjohn. After struggling with depression, Dan was found to have taken his own life on December 14, 2021. He leaves behind five siblings — Nicole, Naomi, Julia, Ansley, and Paul — and his parents, Sandy and Mike.
From the family: “Daniel was so well loved by everyone who knew him. He loved disc golf, anime, art, and video games, not to mention he had an incredible fashion sense. He was a fantastic problem solver and he loved learning new things. He was generous with every fiber of his being and thoughtful, putting others needs and desires before his own. There will never be a time when our hearts will not miss him or a day when we won’t long to see his face.”
Although I did not personally know Dan well, I know his family through Julia, and I know how difficult this loss has been and will be for them going forward. Dan and his siblings were incredibly close, and I know all of them are hurting beyond comprehension. This family cares so much about each other, and to watch them lose one of their own breaks my heart. But while the emotional loss is devastating, it is only made worse by the impending financial burden. The family barely has time to mourn and process their grief because they have to worry about how they're going to pay for everything. Not to mention all of this is happening around the holidays which makes everything worse.
The purpose of this fundraiser is to financially support the Katterjohn family in the wake of this sudden tragedy. Funds will go towards expenses and anything else the family may need in this trying time, and extra funds will be donated towards suicide prevention. Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States, and in the past decade, the rates of suicide have increased by 33%. The Katterjohns want to help prevent this from happening to anyone else so that Dan's struggle isn't in vain. They are grateful for any and all support.
All funds will go directly to Julia to be distributed according to her family's needs.
