DU Law's Jessup Team Competition Fund

Donation protected
I have been the coach of the DU Law School’s Jessup Moot Court Team for 12 years. This year, my team won the prestigious honor of qualifying, as only one of 12 United States teams, to compete at the International Rounds! Additionally, we won the 1st place award for their written brief and the 1st place speaker (oralist) award!

The Jessup International Law Moot Court Team is the LARGEST and most prestigious moot court competition in the world! Over 700 teams from over 100 countries compete each year. The top approximately 150 qualifying teams each year will compete in Washington D.C. for the honor of winning the “Jessup Cup”. The Jessup is basically the Olympics of moot court competitions. More info can be found on through this link

The law students spent over 700 hours this year preparing for the competition. The International Rounds occur over 10 days and the students will be judged by the top lawyers and scholars from around the world! Even judges from the United Nation’s International Court of Justice judge the rounds! They make life-long connections with international students and develop invaluable skills. This is, to put it mildly, an opportunity of a lifetime!

Unfortunately, a 10-day stay at a hotel in Washington, D.C., plus airfare for 5 students, is very expensive. We have received some limited funding from the law school and the Ved Nanda Center for International and Comparative Law has also generously provided funds for the team. I have also donated my adjunct stipend to the team this year.

We are still currently $12,000 short of our budget and we start the competition next week.

We hate to ask, but we need your help to be able to attend the competition. Anything at all helps! If you are able to assist our team at all, we would be sincerely appreciative! And for all non-anonymous donations, we will post photos on social media after the competition with a shoutout to each and every donor as our sponsor.

Thank, thank you, so very much for anything you can give. We are so very appreciative!

(Note: I am not listing the students’ names because the Jessup competition has strict anonymity rules, and the judges cannot know what country they are from. They will be posting this Go Fund Me separately on their social media pages.)
