Liam's Top Surgery Fund

Hey there! Thanks for checking out my GoFundMe. My name is Liam (he/him), I'm 25 years old, and I live in St. Louis, Missouri. I am a husband to Jake and a dog dad to Stella. I need your help to help me with the funds need to cover my top surgery and recovery!

I just found out that my insurance will not pay for the surgery that is supposed to be fully covered. This is mainly due to living in the great state of Missouri. I have spent the past several years jumping through the hoops of gender affirming care: I've been on testosterone since 2020, I have had my birth certificate altered and I've legally changed my name, all important steps for me to live out what I know to be true. I still have one more big step which I've been working towards, which is top surgery. I have spent several years binding, often times doing so in harmful ways, causing chronic pain, back issues and scoliosis. The only way to prevent this from continuing to cause harm and still address the gender dysphoria I've had since I was young is through top surgery.

Your support would mean the world to me. My partner is disabled, and the majority of my income supports our home and the life we are building. The surgeon I plan on working with is located in San Francisco, and while there are many supports available here including a home specifically used to trans individuals recovering from surgeries, I will still need to cover the costs of food, the travel costs associated with consultations and the surgery itself, and the several weeks I will not have any income to cover living expenses. I’m an independent contractor who does not get PTO, so taking this time off will essentially mean losing a month of income.
