Support Lincoln: Justice and Daycares Safe from Sexual Abuse

Hi, My name is Jane* and I am fundraising for my 3yr old son Lincoln* and the www.protectdaycarechildren.org initiative.

Lincoln came home from daycare traumatised, red on one occasion, bleeding on another and said someone hit him in the bottom amongst many other statements. He was one of four children that filed police reports at this daycare centre. His psychologist stated that his comments were specific, highly sexual in nature and presentation was indicative of harm and trauma. He is still in therapy and has a special education plan to manage his behaviour at his new daycare.

Despite four police reports and another child with significant bleeding and a confirmed internal injury, the police told his parents from the outset they thought he just had a 'bad nappy change', did not interview him, did not consult any medical or psychological experts and determined no criminal offence occured.

Your support will also empower our projects advocacy and lobbying efforts ensuring that children at daycare are finally protected and child sexual abuse victims have a voice in the criminal justice system.

Our children should be protected at daycare by mandatory parent and child sexual abuse education, tighter screening measures and cameras in play areas. When allegations of abuse are made, they should have a voice in the justice system and should have child sexual abuse developmental experts provide opinion when no offence is detected.

Together, we can be the Guardians of Justice by protecting the children and providing them a voice in the justice system.
