KYLA'S Story

Hello Friends/Family/Business Associates -
I’m writing you in regards to Kyla, a Saucy employee, that was in a horrific car accident earlier this month. Though she experienced severe injuries, the good news is, she is in high spirits on her long road to recovery and was released to out-patient therapy yesterday.
To say the injuries were significant would be an understatement. From the accident, Kyla suffered a compound fracture to her femur, a cut artery, internal lacerations and an enormous amount of blood loss. She broke her knee cap, pelvis, and ribs, while sustaining fractures throughout her arms, back, and neck. Kyla spent four days in the ICU and then trauma unit for three days. It is apparent that she has a while to go before being fully healed.
From the onset Saucy decided to support Kyla in her time of need. Our original support plan was $1 to her for every “Red Gummy Bear” beer we sold at the Brewery. In and of itself would raise $4-5,000 based on the volume of beer we sold.
After a lot of thought Eric and I believed that we were not doing enough. Unfortunately, as a minor and part-time employee, Kyla did not have insurance with us, nor is she on a family plan. Obviously, there will be significant costs associated with all that was described above, and while we can’t change her life, we do have the ability to do more than we originally thought.
We decided to take it a step further and donate the net proceeds from the entire 16.5 gross barrels of “Red Gummy Bear” that we brewed. We anticipate over $20,000 in proceeds from over 4,000 beers sold.
If you are receiving this letter you are a friend, family member, and/or business associate of Saucy, myself and/or our employees at Saucy. We are asking for your help with the following the week of NOVEMBER 9-16th:
1) Come visit us at Saucy Brew Works (2885 Detroit Avenue) www.saucybrewworks.com
2) Bring a friend/colleague/entire department
3) Buy at least 1 “Red Gummy Bear” per person
4) Help us sell out 4,000 beers ASAP
5) PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDAR
We will be sharing this message on social media and as far as we can reach in the following days. We are also in the process of setting up a 501c3 (or other) so that all proceeds can go to her as a donation, rather than be taxed. Any experts on the subject please chime in, we always appreciate the help. ** ALL NET PROCEEDS WILL GO TO BENEFIT KYLA and her recovery.
