Kylar and his family

Donation protected
Hi, My name Cindy. My Sister Stephanie and I organizing this fundraiser on the behalf of our nephew Kylar who is 8-years old and his family. He is the joy and life of all the family. Kylar was diagnosed back in July 2023 with a condition called immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). This condition is characterized by immune-mediated destruction of otherwise normal platelets, in other words the immune system produces antibodies against a person’s own platelets and destroys them. Platelets are cells that are made in the bone marrow and circulate in the bloodstream and help the blood to clot.

Kylar has been admitted and has visited the hospital at numerous occasion due to his condition. On January 22, 2024, Kylar suffered a stroke as well as some internal bleeding in the stomach and bladder. He was rush to CHEO in Ottawa. At that point Kylar needed two major surgeries, the first surgery was to cauterize the spleen by a laparoscopic procedure. This surgery needed to be done to help reduce the bleeding and help his blood to clot again. The second surgery was done using a procedure called a bone flap. The purpose of the procedure was to remove the bleeding and to relieve the pressure that build up due to his stroke. Kylar had to wait a period of 18 hours before his platelet count was high enough so he could undergo his cerebral surgery.
As of now, Kylar is still at CHEO and is kept under light sedition to help his body to recover. Kylar will still need to undergo other surgeries because of his condition and his stroke.

Kylar is fighting with all his strength for his life. Currently, we are aware that Kylar’s right side is not fully responding but it is too soon to tell what is reversible. We have also been confirmed that he his fighting a lung infection and a bacterium. Currently, we are unable to know exactly the extent and severity of the damages caused by his stroke. Kylar’s future is full of uncertainty. The one thing that we know, is that the road for recovery and rehabilitation will be long and difficult. Kylar will remain at CHEO Ottawa during that time.
PLEASE SUPPORT THIS AMAZING LITTLE BOY AND HIS FAMILY THROUGH THIS HEARTBREAKING AND EXCRUTIATING TIMES.
