Kyle Kicks Cancer with Omni

Donation protected
Kyle was diagnosed with stage IV Pancreatic cancer that had metastasized to his stomach lining in October 2018.  Since then, he has undergone extensive chemo therapy and was part of an immunotherapy trial drug through Stanford that was showing great success until his kidneys could no longer handle the treatment and he was unable to continue with the trial.  This was not what we wanted or expected but we kept positive.

Once he left the trial we were getting all set to start an even more aggressive chemotherapy treatment when he started experiencing severe stomach pain and was unable to keep anything down for a few days.  After a trip the the ER they found that the cancer in his stomach had spread and started causing narrowing/blockages in his stomach and in his small and large bowls. After 2 stays in the hospital near our home in Manteca it was decided that he needed to be treated at a higher level facility so he was transferred to Stanford.

While at Stanford, the GI team, Oncology team, and Surgical team ran multiple tests over the first 2 days and ultimately decided Kyle needed to have stents placed in order to allow him to digest food. For 2 weeks he was hospitalized at Stanford where they placed 2 stents, one in the bottom of his colon and another at the bottom of his stomach. They also placed a drain that goes into his abdomen so that he can drain the accumulation of fluid that builds there from the cancer tumors in his stomach. Even after these stents were placed he was unable to digest food and still gets sick if his stomach gets too full.  After talking with the doctors we decided the best thing to do at this point was to go home, recover, and start chemotherapy ASAP in hopes that it will shrink the tumors enough to let his digestive tract work properly again.

Along with Kyle's standard of care of chemo we are exploring and experimenting with alternative natural medicines to hopefully help with his side effects, keep his immune system healthy, and get some of his strength back.  Unfortunately these alternative therapies are very expensive so we are exploring all options to support his health and get him back on the road to remission.

As you can imagine, this past year has been incredibly challenging for he, I, and our 4 amazing kids. Kyle was a 10-year police officer with Pleasanton PD and has to take an extended medical leave of absence. I have also taken a large step back from my career in Real Estate in order to be by his side and take care of anything he or the kids need during this time.

While our ultimate goal is to get Kyle to remission, in the meantime, we are exploring all options that can bring him comfort from the tumors and chemo treatments. We are so incredibly grateful to everyone who is participating in this fundraiser, thank you so much for helping us during one of the hardest journeys we have ever faced.
