Kyle and Jenn Meredith Flood Relief

KYLE AND JENN have lost everything.  Twice.

On March 15, 2015 when Louisville was slammed with record amounts of rain, Kyle and Jenn's Riviera neighborhood home was flooded.  They, along with many Louisville residents, had to salvage what little they could and move out of thier home.  Responsibly, the Merediths had purchased additional flood insurance.  After much negotiating with the insurance company, they were finally able to begin repairs on their beloved home.  UNTIL MSD issued a stop-work order and informed them they would not be allowed to rebuild their home due to the extent of damage to their home which is also located in a flood plain.  What?!

After much media attention and pressure from residents, MSD changed the rules around prohibiting repairs to flood-damaged homes.  The Merediths and other neighbors were finally able to move forward with their repairs, though most of them had suffered a significant set back between deductibles and temporary living expenses while still maintaining their mortgages.  But they kept their heads up and pushed ahead.

Fast forward to this week.  After months of displacement, Kyle and Jenn had finally begun to move their salvaged belongings back into their restored home.  Again on Sunday, Louisville was slammed with torrential rain and damaging floods.  They are again out of their home.  They will be allowed back in, but this means another huge insurance deductible to make many of the same repairs that were just completed.  To continue to suffer these devastating losses in a home they cannot, in good conscience, sell to someone else could eventually leave them no choice but to foreclose.   Their best case scenario, at this point, would be a buyout from MSD or FEMA.  IF granted, it will take months, if not years, and will never amount to what they have invested in their home.  They are faced with additional legal fees and more temporary living expenses.  And, by the way, they are still committed to a mortgage on a home that they cannot enjoy!  They have lost pretty much all of their household goods and only wish to be able to replace what they absolutely need with modest furnishings and household necessities.

Kyle and Jenn were torn whether to allow their friends to initiate this campaign.  While they absolutely need our help, they realize they are safe and that is the most important thing.  Let's help them get back on their feet.  They would do the same if the tables were turned.
