Kyle’s Rehabilitation & Restoration of Life

In MARK 2, Jesus healed a paralyzed man because of his FRIENDS faith.
This is why your circle matters.
My name is John Alonzo, I am assisting my fellow Marine brother, Kyle Cory, with this fundraiser. Cory honorably served 15 years in the Marine Corps with various duty stations. He served with WPNS CO. 2nd BN, 1st Marines-- 1st Marine Division in Camp Pendleton, CA. where he trained and deployed several times in the infantry as a 0331 Machine Gunner with numerous Combined Arms Teams; then he went on to serve with WPNS CO. 1st BN, 23rd Marines, Inspector-Instructor Staff Austin, TX, where he trained and instructed infantry Marine Reservists for combat; and then went on to serve with the Marine For Life Program in Oklahoma where he diligently guided and assisted disabled Marine combat veterans with all sorts of polytrauma and PTSD to transition back into civilian life.
Cory dedicated one third of his life in uniform to serve and protect our American freedoms and interests at home and abroad. Along his arduous military journey, Cory always had a contagious smile and upbeat persona, regardless of how demanding and exhaustive the Marine Corps combat readiness atmosphere can be at times (always), thus, enabling him to lead, teach and continue on our beloved everlasting Marine Corps traditions by passing them on to his fellow junior Marines, resulting in the development of lifelong friendships and brotherly bonds Marine Corps wide, throughout our communities across the country, and around the world where he served. His moxie and discipline enabled him to cultivate and master his passion for mentoring/instructing Marines so that they maintain their utmost superior fitness conditioning and multifaceted warfare skills, and though he departed the Inspector-Instructor Staff Austin for Oklahoma shortly before unit activation, like any hard-charging coach that managed to lead and train his team all the way to the big game, his guidance and leadership was ultimately put to the test when the Pentagon called on the unit to deploy for OIF II in 2004, where the 1/23 Marines’ unique and outstanding combat readiness proved to be superior against the enemy in Iraq, resulting in one on the lowest casualty rates for any deployments of Marine infantry units within the 4th Marine Division in Iraq.
Since his childhood--to during his tenure in the Marine Corps-- and throughout his post-service life, Cory has always dedicated his time and resources to helping others, whether it is giving to the homeless and needy, changing a person’s tire off the highway that he didn’t even know or helping them buy a new tire, or just being a good friend by helping a friend or family member out of a rut, his steadfast devotion to helping others and for being a problem solver and strong leader, personify his character and essence as a true friend and class act to our community and society as a whole.
On January 25th, 2022, Cory was shot in the back by an irate gunman in Oklahoma, and sustained a serious Spinal Cord Injury and paralysis. After a short stay in an Oklahoma hospital, his situation worsened, and the Veterans Administration intervened and transported him via airplane to their Neurosurgery Hospital in Houston, TX, where he is currently receiving medical treatments for his injuries.
So, for those that have been asking how you all can help, your prayers for a successful medical rehabilitation, and strength for Cory and his family during this difficult long-term transition care, are always greatly appreciated. Although Cory is a fighter and ready to take on the profound never-ending uphill challenges associated with physical therapy and Spinal Cord Injury rehabilitation, he cannot do this journey alone and for the first time in his life, he will be the one needing everyone’s help. The road to overcoming his Spinal Cord Injury is still uncertain, and varies from person to person, unfortunately, this recovery process will not be done overnight, and requires a variety of different elements and resources in order to give him a fighting chance—the ultimate battle to regain his life back.
The two components necessary for Cory’s rehabilitation are MOBILITY and his LONGTERM CARE, and both of these instrumental factors require: (1) a medical mobility vehicle: in order to increase mobility for long-term care, i.e. medical appts, physical and occupational therapy, social interactions; (2) modification of existing structure: to accommodate for long-term care., i.e. disability wheelchair access to house, porch, plumbing, widen walkways, widen doors, hallways, and rooms, etc.
Alone, given his situation and inability to ambulate or work, neither him nor his two children, have the resources to support the cost of care, aid his quality of life, and rehabilitation—however; through the Lord’s Prayer and the Power of Unity, though they may not be able to cover these costs with the proportionately small number within the family, we know that if you (and a few thousand friends) help join our cause, the shared expense becomes so much more manageable. Your help could be the greatest gift that Cory could ever hope for—a fighting chance to take back his life and rehabilitate and restore his body through the Grace of God and enable him to continue to be a mentor and loving father to his children once he returns back home to Oklahoma.
Thank you and God Bless.
