Kylie & Jake Kemper

Kylie and Jake are high school sweethearts who have been trying to have a baby for three years. They were completely shocked and over the moon excited when they learned they were pregnant in July of 2020. At the 20 week anatomy scan, they were thrilled by the news that they'd be having a son, but their worlds were quickly turned upside down with the devastating discovery that he had multiple congenital heart defects . The doctors have described his case as "very complicated", as each of his defects will bring on its own entity of problems, and he will have to have open heart surgery almost immediately after birth and several more open heart surgeries in the months thereafter. Because of where Jake and Kylie live in Colorado, the closest hospital that is equipped to handle their baby's needs is about three hours away in Denver. Kylie will have to move out there a month before her due date, and she and Jake will spend the months following his birth in the area as much as they can while their son stays in the NICU. Their bills will include everything from traveling to and from Denver, hotel stays/long term Airbnb rentals, doggy day care for their Beagle, and endless hospital bills. On top of their added bills, they will have to spend weeks/months away from work, most of which will be unpaid. Our goal is to help ease this burden for them as much as we can. We would love to raise enough that they could afford a decent Air BNB that is close enough to the hospital so they can have an easy commute to visit their baby, and also have a semblance of a home away from home that is more comfortable than a hotel room. The baby is due in mid April, and while we don't have much of an idea of how much more help they'll need, we think this is a good start to lessen their stress.
