Kym Shurbutt Memorial "Be the Match" Stream-A-Thon

The Kym "Bogie" Shurbutt Memorial "Be the Match" Stream-A-Thon to recognize, celebrate, and support this lifesaving foundation, was streamed live on Sunday, March 26, 2023 from Noon to 2:30pm.

Georgetown entertainer Bil Krauss hosted this fun-filled event complete with live music, local celebrities, and amazing stories of survival. All proceeds from this event will be donated directly to the Be The Match Foundation.

In 2016 Kym Shurbutt was diagnosed with Myelofibrosis, a rare blood cancer. Kym’s only chance of survival was a bone marrow transplant. Fortunately, the Medical University of South Carolina worked with the Be The Match Foundation to locate the perfect match that miraculously cured his condition and extended his life by many healthy years.

Kym was always grateful for the service provided by the Be the Match organization and wished to establish a fundraiser to support their work.

Our primary goal is to encourage people between the ages of 18 and 40 to register with Be The Match Foundation. Our secondary goal is to help raise funds for the Be The Match Foundation so they will have the resources they need to provide their lifesaving services.

Anyone 18 to 40 years of age, anywhere in the US can use this code to register and a swab kit will be mailed to them from Be The Match. See the note below for those under 18 years of age.

However, once there, you will choose the “under 18” option and will be taken to a different site. You MUST type in your code BOGIE when asked for the promo code. We’re not able to track anyone joining the pre-registry in honor of Kym if they do not input the code.
