Paradise Fire Victims Fundraiser KN
Tax deductible
We attended the SF 49ers NY Giants football game for our fantasy football league night out on Monday. As we sat in our 4th deck nose bleed seats at the top of Levi Stadium, we smelled and observed the smoke from the fire in the small town of Paradise, California.
After the national anthem, we witnessed a dozen kids wearing Paradise high school football jerseys climbing up the same steep steps we just labored up. They stopped and sat next to us in the stands. The 49ers invited and transported the players, coaches and cheerleaders to the game. They participated in the national anthem ceremony on the field and met many of the players before the game. As the game moved along, we had various casual conversations with the boys. We learned that all of the kids lost their homes in the fire. Their high school was partially burned down and all of their equipment was lost. The kids and their families are living in shelters or with family spread across the region. Monday was the first time they had a chance to see their classmates, since the day of the evacuation.
For a few hours yesterday, the kids got to enjoy a short break from the chaos of having their whole life flipped upside down. Amazingly, they expressed a positive attitude towards the upcoming challenges in their lives. We over heard them saying they didn't have much money to buy the expensive concessions at the game. We bought out all the ice cream from the kiosk and handed them to the kids.
We asked Dana and Smita if Knowles could setup up a donation fund for the victims. They asked us to create a GoFundMe page. All we ask is that you skip one morning coffee run or outside lunch, and donate that small amount. Please donate whatever you can, every dollar counts. If you don’t want to donate via the internet, you can drop funds off at our desks. Knowles Mountain View will be making a contribution on top of what we accumulate from the proceeds of the silent auction.
Funds will be distributed to charities directly associated with the Fire in Paradise California.
