Kyra Women's Project Fundraiser

I have decided to tandem skydive on the 11th May 2024 to raise money for a group called ROSE which is a part of a wider group called Kyra Women’s Project.

Kyra, simply put, offered me a lifeline last year. Eleven months ago, in April 2023, I was spiked and sexually assaulted by a stranger in a nightclub. In May, a few weeks after my assault, I ended up asking for help so I could get through this, and my cries were answered by the crisis team, who suggested Kyra’s services to me.

On the 11th May 2023, I stepped foot in the Kyra building for the first time, which is set inside a beautiful church and began attending their member-led sessions. Their project is defined as ‘helping women make positive changes to their lives,’ but for many they go beyond that, and have saved the lives of many members, mine included.

In September of 2023, I was asked to share my story behind joining Kyra at a conference, and soon after, found myself with an incredible job offer, working at Rape Crisis in Leeds, helping to support women who had been through unthinkable traumas and needed help. Women like me, who know how important these services are.

Because Kyra is a charity, they rely on donations and charitable offers to run their projects. Donations can pay towards trauma focused counselling, the running of groups, such as domestic abuse awareness, anxiety workshops, employment support and so much more, and not to mention, pay for the member groups too, which support women simply by us being there for each other and meeting up once or twice a week.

May 2024 also marks 5 years of the Rose project running, so I think it is the perfect time to do this skydive. We know that Kyra will continue to have a positive effect on women for as long as it is running, so donations to continue their incredible work would be appreciated.
