KZOO Radio's last major equipment upgrade was more than 35 years ago when KZOO moved to its current tower location. Recently KZOO experienced major equipment failure at the tower and studio location and was off-air for 3-days.
Loyal KZOO listeners immediately started calling the station to ask how they could help, many asked KZOO to start a Go Fund Me account so that they could contribute to the purchase and installation of new equipment as well as provide support to the station. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the listeners realized that they were in a unique position to give back to the radio station that they loved and have listened to for decades.
KZOO Radio AM1210 is a Japanese language Station serving the Japanese community in the State of Hawaii since October 18, 1963. KZOO serves as an essential source for daily local, national and international news, entertainment and information that KZOO listeners depend upon for their daily lives.
Due to the wave of support and well wishes from listeners who rely on KZOO on a daily basis, this "Go Fund Me" account was started to help KZOO upgrade essential equipment so that KZOO can continue broadcasting and serving the Hawaii community for the past 57 years.
KZOO's main programming is primarily in the Japanese language and shares culture through news, music and information that pertains to the listeners' daily lives in their first language.
KZOO is also designated by the State of Hawaii as the emergency radio station for the Japanese community residing in the State during emergencies and natural disasters. And is the only official Hawaii radio station for the Japan market.
