Where do I even start? If you follow my blog (www.ManicTalons.com), you already know part of my story. Last August, I was let go from my job of 10+ years. Though devistated, I saw this as an opportunity to change careers and follow my passion - nails and nail art. I enrolled in the Nail Technology program at Georgia Career Institute.
Sadly, my husband and I have learned after two months in the program that we simply can't survive as a single income family while I'm in school. Our bills haven't stopped and we have exhausted my retirement fund. Yes, I cashed out my 401k in an attempt to make this dream a reality. Our original plan for my husband to pick up extra hours at work to supplement my 401k money was derailed when he was in a car wreck the day before Thanksgiving. He was out of work for a few weeks and has been on light duty since returning to work due to 9 broken ribs.
We have stretched our budget as far as we possibily can and have cut out all unnecessary expenses, but in order for me to continue with my studies, we have to come up with $10k to cover our bills for the duration of the course (my tuition is covered through grants and student loans). If I have to stop now, I have spent my retirement fund and several months of my life with nothing to show for it but a broken spirit. This Go Fund Me is my last hope at staying in school. I'm praying for a miracle.
