Support Firefighter John & wife Monica Stuhlman -Eaton Fire

Donation protected

My best friend Monica (Ortiz) Stuhlman and her husband, John Stuhlman, a dedicated member of the LA Fire Department, have endured an unimaginable year. The Eaton Canyon/Altadena fire took their home of 17 years and much of their community. In his brave efforts to save their home and neighbors, John stayed until the very last moment. His courage came at a cost—he suffered burns and major smoke inhalation while trying to protect what mattered most.
This past year has been filled with immense challenges. They faced the heartbreaking loss of their beloved dogs, Buster (in 2022) and Bentley, who crossed the rainbow bridge just this past November 2024. Now, they face the loss of their home and all the cherished memories it holds.
Their neighborhood was more than just a place to live—it was a tight-knit community. Tragically, Mother Nature’s force has left it unrecognizable. John and Monica escaped with nothing but the clothes on their backs, losing everything they owned.
Amidst the devastation, there are glimmers of hope. John’s LAFD colleagues have stepped up, shovels in hand, searching for Monica’s wedding ring among the ashes. Friends Cindy and Sharick have opened their home to John, Monica, and their surviving dog, Winston, providing a temporary haven during this difficult time.
We are reaching out on their behalf to ask for support—whether it be a donation, a prayer, or simply sharing their story. Donations will cover urgent needs not addressed by FEMA, including food, clothing, care for Winston, and essential expenses as they navigate the journey ahead.
Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference. Together, we can help John and Monica take the first steps toward recovery and show them they are not alone.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support during this incredibly challenging time.
