Labor Delivers: Emergency Home Meal Delivery
Donation protected
Donate to help unemployed Uber and Lyft drivers make emergency home meal deliveries to high-risk seniors during the COVID-19 crisis.
Help solve two problems with one solution. New York City's 91%-immigrant workforce of 85,000 Uber and Lyft drivers is now functionally unemployed due to the Coronavirus crisis. Drivers still have about $2000 in vehicle expenses to pay every month. And as independent contractors, they are often blocked from receiving unemployment benefits.
But their services are still needed. There are over 1 million people over 60 years old in New York City. Under CDC guidelines, they are high-risk and should stay home. But they need meals.
Over 100 TLC-licensed drivers have volunteered to make emergency home deliveries, but they need help covering the cost of gas, insurance, and car payments during the crisis.
Donate to help drivers make emergency home meal deliveries to the home-bound during the crisis.
100% of donations will go do drivers so they can pay for gas, insurance, and other car expenses during the COVID-19 crisis.
