Lacerate - Short film

After being jumped and given the infamous ‘Glasgow smile’, a scar from ear to ear- a naive young model starts a powerful movement, which quickly turns sour, as her scars inspire a sick beauty trend.

Hi, my name is Jasmin Naish and I am currently in my final year of a bachelor of film and television. I aspire to create stories which push the audience to ask themselves confronting questions about the world around them.

Lacerate is a story that could easily occur within our current day and age. Empowering movements are now often twisted into a chance for people to receive social validation rather than form actual protest. The idea of 'if it bleeds, it leads' is something I am interested in exploring, especially through the exploitation of people within the media.

Furthermore, I want to highlight the ever-growing pace and turnover of trends nowadays, specifically to do with women’s bodies, causing them to have a warped sense of self.

Thank you so much for helping me tell this important story for not only women, but all those who are misrepresented in the media. Lacerate instagram
