Asking for prayers and support for Lacey.

I am Lacey's mom, Carmen... I humbly have created this Go Fund Me for Lacey Erickson and her 5 children.... Two years ago Lacey began to feel "off" becoming faint, weak, nauseous, have sharp headaches, and her vision would become blacked out when she would try to see to the right or left. Over the past 2 years, she was seen by 3 specialists at Sanford, and none could give her proper diagnosis. Her symptoms had escalated to the debilitating point where she could not bend over or pick anything up over 10 lbs without extreme pain to her head and feeling faint, had horrible night sweats, was physically ill, and had mysteriously gained 40 lbs of water weight. The specialists had no answers for any of it. They attempted to treat her for chronic migraine, but none of the migraine meds were effective. The severity of this caused Lacey to become unable to work. Her employer/work family was, and is, supportive, gracious and empathetic regarding her health and tell her all the time that they are hoping for the day she can be healed and go back to work with them. In the mean time, she was physically unable to work, or even do anything with a computer for an at home job (obviously because of the extreme head pain) In June, her water weight mysteriously disappeared in just days, but her other symptoms became more severe and new symptoms developed. Finally in late June, Lacey's request to be referred to Mayo was approved, where she was matched with a Neurologist there. Her scans and tests at Mayo showed significant evidence of a spinal fluid leak causing her brain to sag, or collapse on itself (caused by loss of the spinal fluid needed to support the brain like normal). This is causing extreme pain behind her eyes as well, as her brain sag increases, due to the pressure applied to the ocular area. A Lumbar pressure test was also done, which showed normal, so a spinal fluid pressure issue was ruled out. After that lumbar she was extremely ill, and on the trip back to Sioux Falls from Mayo she became suddenly unresponsive. She was ambulanced back to mayo hospital... It took hours to stabilize her. Her heart rate went down to 40 bpm. No one knows what, why, or how... so after giving her fluids and nausea meds they released her in the early morning hours. They said they released her because the CT "didn't show anything". We stayed another night there to monitor her, and made the trip home that Sunday. Her doctor at Mayo then got her scheduled for a blood patch (meant to plug any potential spinal leaks) 2 weeks later. After no relief from that, and her heart rate dipping down into the 40s again, he scheduled her back in September for a Myelogram and multi level blood patch. Again, her heart rate was in the high 30s to low 40s and didn't fluctuate to the 60s like before, remaining low, causing alarm with the nursing staff. They advised Lacey to go to a cardiologist after returning to Sioux Falls to check on her heart, which she did and was put on a Holter monitor and has an echocardiogram on the books. The monitor results indicate her heart rate's fluctuating from 40s to 160 bpm, not indicating a heart defect as the cause, but leaning more towards the probability that her brain is sending incorrect signals to the heart. The date for the echocardiogram is in November, to confirm or deny this probability. In the mean time, she still has shown no improvements, so that means the multi level patch didn't find/plug the leak. She now awaits to hear from her Mayo doctor as to when the next attempt to find the leak with a Photon Scan will happen. There is a waiting list for it and it's far out on the calendar. She's running out of time. She has lost so much weight, her color is grey, and she can't even take a shower without passing out. There's nothing harder than watching your child or loved one fade away right before your eyes and there's nothing you can do to fix them. We appreciate anything anyone can do to help Lacey and her 5 children. We (her family) have been financially helping pay the bills since June, but it's impossible to cover 2 households on one income, so we are humbly reaching out for some help. Lacey applied for temporary disability, but was told that could be denied and/or take months to be approved. Asking for charity is a very uncomfortable area to be in, and Lacey and her family wouldn't be asking if their resources weren't tapped out. Again, we are grateful for your prayers and support during this difficult time. Lacey just wants her life back.
